Would that not then result in the Bloodthirster costing more points than the Lord of Change, even with Master of Sorcery? You're spending 50 points, I'm spending all of 25. I know it's not a huge difference, but if you had to choose one or the other, I think the LoC would still come out on top. Plus, what if I were to take Will of Tzeentch for super-special-fun-awesome re-rolls? Count the re-roll for a save and I would likely still survive with a wound or two after you've fallen.
How about Kairos Fateweaver with the Sword of Rhuin? He'd be just about untouchable actually, you get 6.2 hits, roughly 5 wounds, of which 1-2 puncture armour, but with a re-roll...
Nevermind, it'd be a long-drawn-out combat, although he's deal a wound or two every round and you'd deal about a wound per round. Close fight, maybe? I don't feel like mathing it out right now.

Yeah I prefer the LoC too, but in a 1 on 1 situation, the Bloodthirster wins out. For over all effectiveness I think the LoC is best every time.

There is no sword of rhuin in the daemons of chaos book which is why I wasn't counting. In the daemons of chaos army book the lord of change entry would get whooped every single time by the blood thirster no doubt.

Against the old rules, grimgor wins most of the time! Dunno about the new ones though, got to borrow a codex for that, but if the rules are similar, he should win there too.

The Flaming Sword of Rhuin is a spell in the Lore of Fire. It is, in fact, the second spell.
Go check it out, it does not suck.
