This is going to be part of a series of threads on different special character builds in different army books.
How effective do you find them in comparison to other builds the list can make?
Do you think the characters are overcosted due to their ability to alter the army make up?
Do you like/dislike the fact they make new builds possible?.

So we have 2 Special Characters in the Wood Elf book that alters our army composition.
What do you think of them?
Orions Wild Rider, Cav Heavy Army. Drycahs Forest Spirit Army.
I think both are a little lacking now due to the increasing power of the latest armies. Both were very powerful when first released.
I think the problem is for the two lists is that both are very vulnerable to magic despite both characters bringing extra dispel to the table. This coupled with the massive increase in magical potency in the latest lists results in armies that really struggle against certain builds.

I think GW gave us our special characters for modelling purposes really...
Orion's list isn't very useful with all of the ItP going around, and Drycha doesn't really change the army composition, IIRC.
Our characters really shine in the homemade section. Have you ever actually heard anyone say 'Orion/drycha/dragon chicks' are cheesey? Probably not, it's more 'alter kindred/waywatcher heroes are cheesey.'
That being said, I do have Drycha, 48 dryads, 3 branchwraiths, 2 treemen, and 5 treekin, so I think I may just test her list, if not for cheese, but for fun again. I don't trust dryads though, and... well, lets just say Smokey the bear would have a field day.
