Wood elves are all about tricks. This is a thread to share the random tricks that could make us get treesocked.
Dryads:
Now the ultimate trick of the wood elf army is, in my opinion Dryads. Any real good welf player will tell you that they're a great unit. They won't really be able to tell you why, they'll just list off 30 or so special rules and abilities. Why? Becuase this is a cheap unit that is rather weak, but their real strength lies in psychology. Not the fact that they're fear causing, though it helps... a little. No, it's the fact that they scare your opponent. Most opponents are scared of dryads for no reason other than their reputation.
Blight of Terrors:
This is fun to give to any random hero anywhere. Alter kindreds and warhawk riders can fly it all over the board for fun, but I was just told something absolutely evil by Circus. Give it to a waywatcher hero/lord. Set him up behind your enemy, preferably far away from skirmishers, then run him somewhere he won't be seen, IE between units. The place I always like a blight is on someone near/in a unit of eternal guard, or on a spellsinger that you don't want charged, close enough to most of your units to help them and cause terror.
Treesurfing:
Running 2 spellsingers and a treeman, you can cast 3 treesingings. On an average of 2" per singing, you could move a forest (for example that special little forest you put out in the deployment phase) 6 inches... along with anyone inside. This little boost can put you in range to charge, and give you the tree cover.
Machine gun lord:
The machine gun lord is an alter kindred noble with a bow of loren. Give him the arcane bodkin to take out heavily armoured enemies or starfire arrows to make your enemies flee.
Kindred mixing:
There is no rule saying you cannot run a lord/hero of a different kindred in a unit. This means you could for example run a wardancer hero with the annoyance of netlings in a unit of eternal guard, then challenge their general or a hero with the dance of killing blow, and watch the fun.
More to come later, add your own, and have fun with any of these, becuase... playing nice with Wood Elves is just plain uncharacteristic
