I'm planning on using Goblin Wolf Riders, converted into hobgoblins as my light cavalry for my DOW army.
For my heavy cavalry i'm going for brettonian knights without helmets.
So what do you think? and what do you use for these units?

Hi
I like your idea for heavy cavalry. Mine are Empire Militia on horseback converted to carry lances. Personally I don't like Goblin/Hobgoblin wolf riders in Human DoW armies (I know it shouldn't make a difference, but I just don't like it). My light cavarly are actually halflings on ponies (They are none Games workshop Models) I suppose as long as your troops look good and tie in your army will look cool.
Well thats my two cents

Yeh i'm now not too keen on the gobbos either but ive already baught and made them. Oh well, i'm also thinking about using empire militia with the spears from the mounted squires, but that will have to wait a while.
Ive also now made the heavy cav, ive cut off all the brettonian signs and they look pretty cool.

Heavy cavalry, I use the Volands Venerators <or how ever you spell it> because they were already in the army when I bought it.

The problem with Voland's Venators is that they are Games Workshop Metals and therefore very expensive. You can do plenty more plastic Brettonians for the same price. Not all metals are expensive though my halfling light cav are lead and cheap in comparison.

Ah, the joy of second hand buying. And they had a pretty nice paint job also. Although for general purpose heavy cavalry I would buy the Empire Knightly Orders box set. Bretonnians are tooo showy.

Personally I prefer the Bretonnians as they look more showy, more mercenary like. A friend mine did a unit of Estalian knights by simply using only the unhelmeted heads, they look really good. I just think Empire knights are too religious. Good to hear you got a good deal on your models Captain, I also like 2nd hand buying saves me a whole tonne of cash.

I find that if you use the right combination of heads and body parts empire cavalry looks really really plain. Jes the way I be liking it....SPLICE THE MAINBRACE!!!!PIRATES AHOY!!!
<stealing a lot of empire models....using Militia as pirates>
