Captain of the Phoenix Guard. Silent Guardian of Asuryan. Caradryan is one of the most cost efficient heroes in the game. He is one of the best character killers you can find. Also, with a 4+ Ward Save and Magic Resistance (3), he won't be dying to quickly. However, you need to make good use of him. Caradryan can not and should not be used to chop through blocks of infantry. That should be his escort's job. I usually stick him with a block of Sword Masters. His magic resistance should help them get into combat alive, and they won't be running, because Caradryan causes fear. He should not be used against normal infantry, but against the enemy's elite units, hopefully led by a general. You have Caradryan challenge their leader. If he declines, your swordmasters cut up the unit. If he accepts, and he is Lord level, Caradryan will most likely die. That's when Mark of Asuryan kicks in. So yes, with only two wounds, Caradryan will most likely get cut up in combat. But he is most useful when he dies. Hope this helps.

He is very useful. I think he is best served in a unit of White Lions though.
White Lions are Stubborn, which is annoyingly negated by Fear. Caradryan counters this.
Caradryan lacks in high Strength attacks, the White Lions help him out here.
The Lion Pelts will ensure the unit wont be just shot down like Swordmasters are.
Swordmasters are a nice choice for him too though I agree. I think its a bit silly how the Special Character Heros work best in different unit types than their own.

I just prefer Sword Masters in case he gets bogged down by a large block of infantry. But I can see how White Lions would work.
