Ive had a few battles with this army against chaos and skaven. They haven't lost yet but some of the battles have been close.
Despite the masive number of attacks the pike units get they can't seem to cause much damage of chaos warrior units but they do fare well against everything else. I have a reasonable amount of firepower but im thinking about adding more. I have all the models for this army which influenced the list, i have a few more pikemen, maraurders, Birdmen of catrazza (most of my units are actually regiments of renknown that im using as regular guys but i couldn't really do this with the birdmen), some light and heavy cavalry.
The Captain has a crossbow as the army will be mainly hanging back and he can add to the firepower the force can pump out. Also my merc captain conversion has one on the model.
The army will mainly stay back with the two pikemen units holding the centre of my battleline with the paymaster in the biggest unit. The captain usually stays in the middle of these two units ready to charge out and engage characters, or remnants of squads that could disrupt my line.
The crossbow men usually deploy on one flank with the cannon on the other.
The maraurders will deploy wide on a flank of one of the pike squads this allows them to sweep round and hit the flank of any units that get held up by the pikes (the pikes should hold most things) they can also go hunting prime enemy targets particularly if the enemy has a strong firebase.
So any suggestions on any changes etc?.
