Well.... I'm bored, so I figured I would make a Border Prince themed army. Now, I was wondering the best way to represent this. I would figure on a lot of huntsman, but what else would there be? I think I would like to run a unit of greatswords due to a warhammer comic I read. I also think I would have a unit of knights and some crossbows, as the only real army from the Border Princes I know is Sven Carlson's army in Dark Crusade and Shadow of the Horned rat. So far I'm thinking of: Heroes: A knightish character (mounted of course) a general on foot (some noble or something) a celestial wizard (just awesome) and a fire wizard (also pure awesomeliness) So what do you guys think my next steps should be? And Veq, I am really unsure where to put this, so... yeah

Well really a Border Princes army is just a Dogs of War army.
So you will be wanting some Knights, Crossbowmen, Free Company, Spears etc.
The only things from the Empire book you should really avoid is anything too oppulent/expensive to maintian in fluff and anything really `Empire specific.
So no Outriders, Steam Tanks, Flaggelants, Warrior Priests, Hellblasters, Mortars etc

Awww, no Hellblaster? And what about pistoliers? They do not seem empire specific to me. Greatswords do seem empire specific, but I really want them Also, how are mortars empire specific? Don't some Brettonians have them on their ships? Wink wink. Would there be any specific colors? Also, would the Army be one scheme, as they would probably be serving one noble, or would they be mismatched, as they are mercenarial?

Either type of colour scheme will fit the fluff. Id say pistoliers are ok, obviously they wont be in the pistol korps or be young noble sons as in the empire, they would instead be highwaymen etc. Probably best using the mounted Mordheim Highwayman model.
Not sure if Brets have Mortars on their ships, I think they are Empire specific. They have cannons though and catapults.
Greatswords can easily represented by some local elite force or a Vet Merc Band. Perhaps just use different models.

Sounds good enough. The only reason I wanted a mortar is that I find guess range weapons fun

Still guessing with Cannons though too, remember that you can snipe a mounted character out of a unit of 5 Knights if they have a Champ because he doesnt count for look out sir.

Oh yeah. Between Orcs (Other than the batgobbo launcher), Dark Elves, Brettonians, and Wood Elves, I'm really in the mood for some heavy artillary.
That being said, I have no idea how I want to run the army. I love archers, crossbowmen, greatswords, cannons, and cavalry.
I would love a cav. empire army, but I would also love a gunline. I'll have to play a few games before I decide, but I love the sheer character of empire armies. They are easiest to identify with and have the best stories. And they seem to be screwed fluffwise, so that's always fun.

Yeah thats what I love about Empire armies too.
For my Handgunners I use the very old Estalian style Handgunners, claiming they are a Merc Rifleman regiment from Estalia. I use them as a Detatchment.

What I really want are some of those kislevite horsemen, or even just marauders to make some white wolves of middenheim. I could even count flagellents as theutogen guard.
Of course white wolves would be.... out of place in the border princes. Middenheim and the Border princes are on opposite sides of the empire and all...
