Got to thinking last night about competative Chaos Builds and how the Special Characters fit into that.
Archaon is probably the hardest character in the game, so here is my attempt to have him in a competative list;
Archaon;
Sorcerer; Disk, Tzeentch, Lvl2, Power Familiar.
Sorcerer; Tzeentch, Book, Lvl2, Barded Steed.
10 Warriors; Halberds, Shields, Slaanesh, Full Command.
24 Marauders; Flails, Slaanesh, Full Command.
5 Knights;
7 Hounds;
5 Marauder Horse; Flials, Slaanesh, Musician.
Hellcannon;
Spawn;

The ork side of me wants to go "Sure, but he's dead." but the other part says you should drop the banner from you unit of 10 marauders. I cannot find what MoT does for sorcerers, so until I figure it out, I won't comment on that. I would also drop your 24 unit of marauders to 20 and give the Knights a standard and a musician for those 30 points. Other than that it looks great. Other than Archaon being dead. I do love his model though.

Archaon isn't dead though, he is holed up somewhere in the middle mountains, probably Brass Keep.
Grimgor cheap shotted/sucker punched him on the sly after Archaon had just beaten Valten and Huss. Grimgor spared his life for some reason though. His steed is dead though, Valten smashed it.
Tzeentch gives a 6+ Ward and +1 to Cast.
I was tempted to give the Knights a banner but with 13 S5 Attacks, 5 S4, Then 5-10 S5 That allow no armour saves, I figure they don't really need the extra point of combat res. If Archaon didn't join the unit then I agree they would need a banner, I should have put in where the characters are going.
The disk guy is going to be used to hunt warmachines.
The Warriors are joined by the Steed Sorc for 2x6. Giving them 11 S5 Attacks and 3 S4.
I think the problem with the list is that If I want to use the Hellcannon to shoot, it cant support my infantry so my force could be pretty split up.
Here is my take on a pure Chaos gunline;
Vilitch the Cursling;
Sorcerer; Lvl2, Tzeentch, Rod of Torment.
Sorcerer; Lvl2, Tzeentch, Barded Steed, Book, Power Familiar.
Sorcerer; Lvl2, Tzeentch, Barded Steed. Puppet.
10 Warriors; Slaanesh, Halberds, Shields, Full Command, Banner of Wrath.
Hellcannon; Hellcannon;
5 Horsmen; Throwing Axes.
5 Horsemen; Flails
5 Knights; Standard.
Once the enemy do get through the Hellcannon firing and all that magic, after getting march blocked and getting axes thrown at them. They have to fight 2 unbreakable monsters, risk counter charges by 2 units of cav and the only easy unit to engage has 15 S5 and 2 S4 Attacks.

Vilitch is a new special character. A Sorc Lord of Tzeentch but with 4 S5 Attacks, knows all Tzeentch spells and if an enemy fails a dispel attempt, he gets all the dice the enemy tried to use as extra power. If the enemy fails a casting attempt, he gets all the dice they tried to use as extra dispel dice.
You could also go for shooting without magic;
Kholek Suneater;
Hellcannon; Hellcannon;
25 Marauders; Slaanesh, Full Command, Flails.
25 Marauders; Slaanesh, Full Command, Flails.
25 Marauders, Full Command, Slaanesh, Shields, Light Armour.
5 Marauder Horse; Throwing Axes.
5 Marauder Horse; Throwing Axes.
5 Marauder Horse; Throwing Axes.
Sorcerer; 2 Scrolls. Sorcerer; 2 Scrolls.
3 Solid Infantry blocks, 3 harssment march blockers, 3 very solid shooting units [as Kholeks shooting attack is great] who are all also great flank chargers and rank breakers. I am tempted to drop a Scroll each on the Sorcerers and make all Marauder units have Shields and Light Armour.

I think another solid Chaos build is the classic Cav force, a fave of the last book when Knights were Core.
Exalted; Jugger, Khorne, Halberd.
Exalted; Jugger, Khorne Halberd.
Sorc; Barded Steed. 2 Scrolls.
Sorc; Barded Steed. 2 Scrolls.
5 Knights; Khorne. 5 Knights; Khorne. 5 Knights; Khorne. 5 Knights; Khorne.
5 Marauder Horse; Flails, Slaanesh. 5 Marauder Horse; Flails, Slaanesh. 5 Marauder Horse; Flails.
7Hounds; 7Hounds; 6Hounds; 6Hounds;
For a combined total of 65 Cav.
