Well, looking at the cualdron of blood, I have never seen one that wasn't on a gian spider or in a cold one chariot or something of the like, so I decided I wanted a use for that massive avatar looking statue. So why not create the god of murder incarnate?

The avatar of Khaine counts as a Lord choice. He may not be the army general.
Armor of Blood: the avatar of khaine has an ward save of 3+ and no armor save.
Khaine's fury: All khainite units within 12" of the avatar gain 1 attack or stubborn, decided at before compulsory movement.
Unstoppable assualt
Blood summoning: The avatar of Khaine does not begin the game in play, but is instead summoned during the magic phase 12" from where any model has died. If there is a cualdron of blood, he may opt to appear within 12" of that.
Terror, large target, frenzy [always strike first?]

and his summoning needs to be fixed badly. make it an actual spell with a casting level, and only within the cauldron. also make his ward a 4+ high toughness already guarantees hard to kill. remember this is fantasy not 40k
if you make those changes though his wounds can stay at 6.

Blood summoning: Rather than use the Cualdron of Blood's abilities, one may roll a D6 instead. On a roll of 4+, the Avatar of Khain is summoned within 6" of the cualdron. He may assault this turn. [For those that don't know, the Cualdron's abilities are declared before compulsory movement and charges.]

Well there is no precedant for it in the fluff.
What we do have though is Aenarion who is essentially the Avatar of Asuryan, who then takes the Sword of Khaine and pretty much becomes the Avatar of both Khaine and Asuryan.
I am sure you could justify it like they do with Orion for the Wood Elves though.
The Dark Elves take a newly borne child, following portents to determine who they choose, one every generation is chosen to become the Avatar of Khaine as opposed to a regular Assassin. He undergoes many blood rituals. Culminating in Khaines most holy night were he is transformed with the sacrifice of 1000 virgins, 1 for every facet of Khaine [or something like that] into the Avatar of Khaine.
The only problem I see with something like that is that Melekith would be opposed to it as this Avatar of Khaine would pose a threat to his rule.
Perhaps you could justify it by saying that this Avatar lasts only 1000 days, a day for every incarnation of Khaine, the Avatar himself being Khaines 1000th incarnation.
I think these stats would work -
M6 WS9 S5 T5 W5 I9 A5 LD10
5+ Armour, 4+ Ward.
Eternal Hatred; Frenzy; Khainite; Terror; Magic Resistance 1; Alter of Khaine; Blessings of Khaine;
Avatar of Khaine; The Avatar is unbreakable, however, if beaten in combat he will lose a wound for each point of combat resolution he loses by.
He counts as both a Lord and Hero.
625 Points
This makes him slightly harder than Orion but slower. He doesn't provide Dispel Dice but he has the Blessings to Boost the army. He is essentially a mix between Orion and the Couldron of Blood. His points are about that of Orion and Greater Daemons, Greater Daemons are harder but do not give army boosts like making units Stubborn or giving them the Blessings.

Well then.... fluff of the Avatar:
Khaine loves battle and enjoys getting his hands dirty. He cares not for petty politics or bloodshed, so on the eve of great battles, a Death Hag will have a dream of blood that shows her how to summon the very spirit of khaine. The great entity appears to shed blood, and as soon as the battle is over, the Avatar leaves.
[To make it... sort of like a random intervening spirit, as opposed to a long living creature.]
Avatar of Khaine; The Avatar is unbreakable, however, if beaten in combat he will lose a wound for each point of combat resolution he loses by. I do so hate this rule..... I know it represents so well, but dear god I hate it.
