Just a pretty standard 1500 points army list for casual and friendly games. I still want something fairly competitive so comments and criticism is more than welcome.
HEROES Scar Veteran: blessing of Tzunki, Scimitar of the Sun Resplendent, light armour, shield, blessing of Quetzl. 159 points.
HEROES Scar Veteran: battle standard, light armour, blessing of Quetzl, blessing of Tzunki, Sun Standard of Chotec. 172 points.
HEROES Skink Shaman: level 2, dispel scroll. 125 points.
CORE 15 Saurus Warriors: musician, standard-bearer, spawning champion. 210 points.
CORE 20 Saurus Warriors: musician, standard-bearer, spawning champion. 270 points.
CORE 14 skinks, brave, javelins and shields. 89 points.
CORE 10 skinks, brave, blowpipes, scouts. 75 points.
SPECIAL 3 terradons. 105 points.

Hey, the list seems ok to me but I would suggest a few things.
As Sauros all have the same Ld, your General is free to go off alone. I would give him Charm of the Jaguar Warrior, Great Weapon, Light Armour, Shield + Glyph Necklace. Then the Blessing of Sotek. That extra Strength is better than extra attacks and you wont need that Initiative boost as you can get the charge.
I would drop that magical standard in favour of keeping your battle standard alive. Mount him on a Cold One with Shield and Light Armour for a 1+ Save and it grants the unit he is with immunity to fear, thus keeping them in a fight when they may normally run.
The rest seems fine to me though.

From my experience, my opponents tend to have characters in their units so I need my general inside a unit of saurus so they dont get completely plastered in combat. The only role I can see the jaguar charm and great weapon performing that nothing else can, is seeing an enemy chariot and getting the charge off on that. Thanks for the advice though.

His speed makes him versatile. He can be in a unit, then if Cav are going to get the jump on you, he can pop out and cut them down [should beat their low combat res], same with chariots. If Infantry is coming at you, he can stay with your unit. If he needs to go hunting an important enemy character [like you need to do against say Vampires] then he has the speed to go and hunt one down.
He can even jump forwards to take out the hero from an enemy unit then if he does flee from combat res, he should out distance them and leave them open for a charge from your Sauros. Then when he later rallies, he has the speed to get back in the fight.

Ok, heres the new list. I decided to keep the BSB on foot cause I don't have a mounted model, and cause I went to the trouble of converting one on foot anyway HEROES Scar Veteran: Charm of the Jaguar Warrior, Aura of Quetzl, great weapon, light armour, shield, blessing of Quetzl, blessing of Sotek. 178 points. HEROES Scar Veteran: battle standard, light armour, blessing of Quetzl, blessing of Tzunki, War Banner. 157 points. HEROES Skink Shaman: level 2, dispel scroll. 125 points. CORE 15 Saurus Warriors: musician, standard-bearer, spawning champion. 210 points. CORE 20 Saurus Warriors: musician, standard-bearer, spawning champion. 270 points. CORE 14 skinks, brave, javelins and shields. 89 points. CORE 10 skinks, brave, blowpipes, scouts. 75 points. SPECIAL 3 Terradons. 105 points. SPECIAL 5 Saurus Cavalry: musician, standard-bearer, spawning champion. 225 points. RARE 1 salamander. 65 points. TOTAL: 1499 points

That looks fine to me, only thing I would be tempted for is the Diadem rather than that scroll.

Well, I had my first game with this new list the other day, versus my friends High Elves. I got flattened. My new Scar Veteran with the jag charm and great weapon got the charge off on a lion chariot, me believing his S 7 would do the work. Four 'always strike first' attacks later, and I was poorer by one Scar Veteran. That same chariot went on to chew through my two saurus units and BSB, basically winning the game by it's self. Other highlights to the game included my saurus cav being flattered by a unit of spearmen (that was just a bad decision on my part) and my skinks being in the wrong place at the wrong time for the entire game. But a good workman never blames his tools, so I think i just need to practice with the army a bit more. That or find someone to play who doesn't run chariots.

Hey, he was playing High Elves, expect to be flattened. He pretty much beats your magic advantage and has ASF and chariots... it's pretty harsh to play against on your first game with the army.
In other words; yep, don't blame your tools.

His Lions don't get ASF, only actual Elves do. So he should only get 2 Attacks, they are at S5 not S6 as they are mounted so they only get +1S for those Great Weapons. If thats how you played it though and he still killed you with those 2 S5 Attacks, you were just very unlucky.
Better luck next time!.
