So after playing in a 40k tournament this weekend and getting my rear handed to me, I'm in doubts. Should I continue playing 40k but not with my Tau, or should i just focus on WFB? I know a few people on here play both. Which do you think is more fun?

I think it depends on your collection and funds.
If you already have armies for both, play both.
If you have the funds to afford armies for both, play both.
If you have neither of those, focus on one and play that one. Don't play the one you win at most, play the one you have most fun with.

yeah, its not all about winning, just go with which one makes you have the most fun.

See thats where it gets confusing. I have no money, hoping to get a job come the new year. I have alot of 40k, but something about WFB calls to me. I've never even played a game of it. I don't know.
But i think i made the decision to stay with 40k and as i get funds start in fantasy.
I'm just frustrated with my chosen army sucking nugnuts. I don't mind loosing, I do mind having absolutely no possible hope in heck of even pulling out a draw.

You have every chance of getting decent results with Tau. Tau have actually done well at some of the more recent GT heats. Just get some advice on your list and how you are using.
If you really want to get into Fantasy too though, just stick with your Tau in 40K which saves you money and then get a Fantasy army with the money you would spend on a new 40K army. I play both and much prefer Fantasy.

i was playing a 1750 list that was geared towards taking out hoards and marines. I knew that this shop sold out of orks all the time, and i took on 2 ork armies. I had 3 full fire warrior squads, and 1 3 suit team with flamers and burst cannons. In the first game i killed all of 14 orks. The second i got about 20 out of nearly 100. I had the guys on TO go over it, but all they said was i should have taken more fish. It was a full out slaughter. And i haven't won a 5th game yet. Some close ones but thats it.
I'm going to keep playing 40k but retire the tau. And as i start to get more money i'll slowly switch over to fantasy.

I say don't worry so much about winning. I played the cheesiest (IMHO) army in fantasy, Brettonians, and I lost 3 times in a row. The list was decent, but I screwed up a few times, the dice didn't favor me at all, and the terrain screwed me. As long as you have fun playing, then there's no reason to quit.
The good thing about Fantasy that I have found is that one can make a very good sized list from an army box alone, making an army only $112 if you include the army book. I know quite a few people who have made a competent 1500 list from the army box, and a couple of heroes.

Its not about the winning. I played a 1500 Eldar vs. Sister of battle the other day and got creamed. But I had fun because i thought all my units did what they needed to, just got hosed by some unlucky dice rolls. The second game i mentioned back there. I had 57 shots at 1 unit of 8 orks. I hit something like 42. I wounded 26 with 2 deaths. They kid was running a boss with 5 nobs and a mad dok. Cybork bodies and feel no pain. So they had a 6+ inv save, then anything that got through was FNP'd. He made something like 15 FNP in a row against me.
I don't mind loosing as long as i feel i had a chance if not for this thing or that roll. I can't stand playing really really well with a good army and still not having a prayer.
And an update to my supposedly solved question. I had decided to stay 40k. Then my wife saw the Bretonian Pegasus Knights and now we're going fantasy....

Haha, welcome to Fantasy then. Pegasus Knights are one of the best units in the game.

Don't let him lie to you, it's not the pegasus knights that are any good, but the pegasi themselves Does this mean you'll be going Brettonian?

Not me but my wife. ;D I'll be playing vampire counts, and we're getting lizardmen for our son. The lizardmen are sick out of the box. I think I can make a 1204 pts army from just the basic battalion box with just a little conversion. The best I could wrangle out of the Vampire Battalion was 700 something, and that included the box of skeletons and the wright king i already have! The Brits was about 1050, but it required conversion.

a lil of topic, the vamps battalion box is a bit sucky compared to the rest, i don't know how long my mates had hia vamps and he still struggles to field 2000pts w/ count manfried, a vargulf and the skellies he needs to raise

They're becoming less good value for money for the same price.

I honestly thought the Dark Elf one was decent. The army box, not the spearhead.

Well we all know the only true god is $$. Not for us mind you! Only GW.... The Lizardmen battalion was pretty good, 4 core and a special. The Brettonian was 3 core and a Pegasus knight. A little work converting a KotR to a pallidin on horseback for the BSB and your good to go.
