Im sure most of you will have heard the rumours, if not, check the Chaos board.
I don't think Chaos will be a power army at all with this new book though. Sure they have been made more viable than that make shift list but overall, they are only about as good as the old Mixed Hordes list.
The lack of Flyers and Skirmishers really hurts them.
I think the best way to go with the new book in terms of power is a Marauder Horde, with lots of Marauder Horse. Big Blocks of Marauder Infantry and Wolfric with a unit of Great Weapon Marauders coming on from behind the enemy lines to take out artillery.

It kind of makes me wish that Daemons, Beasts, and Warriors were still one army, or at least useable together, as per fluff.
I see them getting really hurt by gunlines, though i don't think Wood Elves or High Elves will be any good against them. Brettonians will probably be a fair match if they get the charge, but I see the armor being a massive problem.
Vampire counts and Tomb Kings are probably screwed, since I see them having something to counteract psychology, and their armor is going to be a huge problem. Chaos magic always frightened me, so this could be fun too.
I'm thinking daemons will be pretty good against them as well.

I think the issue is still the cost of Warriors when you consider their lack of support, with relatively little fire power, Warrior armies have nothing to make the enemy actually fight their Warriors or engage them and so the enemy can just hold back and shoot them up and then avoid them or get a flank charge off easily with the Warriors lack of skirmishers and flyers.

I have the book now and consider them to be pretty under powered.
You cant really go magic heavy, not compared to the last 4 Armies released. You also cant really do magic defense, which you pretty much NEED because of the last 4 armies released.
I think a Cavalry Force is the way to go to be honest. I may crack out my Dragon again and start using him with loads of Cav.

I like the idea of a Norseman styled force - think Pathfinder (but not as lame or cheesy). Might have to look into it after I've finished my Daemons.

I've had 8 games with them now and had a lot of success, I have gone very extreme on magic though. I think they were ok and they got the power level about right, if you dont count the last 3/4 armies.
At least it is nice to see that they have stopped the power creep. looks like Lizards are not going to be uber powerful too.
At least it means not every army will be supidly powerful, but it does leave the last 4 on the top of the pile in terms of power.

October 09. Tentatively.... but very likely.
What I don't understand is why Brettonians are being done before Orcs. Orcs just aren't that competative, and Brettonians are cheesey.
The list is as follows: Lizardmen; February Skaven; July Beasts; October Tomb Kings; December
Then Ogres followed by Brettonians.

Brets before Orcs because, despite the obvious power disparity Orcs are actually a 7th Ed army, Brets are still a 6th Ed army IIRC.
Orcs just need one of those updates, like Dark Elves got last edition. In order to make them a little more competative.
