I would normally run a monster heavy list but my mate wants Dark Elves and we have similar tastes, after helping him build a list that turned out monster heavy, I wouldnt want to run an almost identical list if I do decide on Dark Elves so I have gone for a slight Corsair Theme.
Corsair Admiral [Lord];
Hydra Blade,
Potion of Strength,
Pendant,
Sea Dragon Cloak,
Heavy Armour,
Shield.
Sorceress;
Level 2,
Seal of Ghrond,
Tomb of Furion.
Sorceress;
Level 2,
Darkstar Cloak,
Dispel Scroll.
Sorceress;
Level 2,
Sacrificial Dagger,
Dispel Scroll.
19 Corsairs;
Full Command,
Frenzy Banner.
19 Spears;
Full Command.
- Assassin; Extra Hand Weapon; Dark Venom.
10 Repeater Crossbowmen;
10 Repeater Crossbowmen;
5 Harpies;
5 Shades; Great Weapons.
Bolt Thrower;
Bolt Thrower;
Hydra;
The fluff will be based on a Corsair Admiral who has been hired to ship around a Triad of Sorceresses from the Convent on a quest to uncover some dark artifacts. Their retinue the normal warriors and an Assassin bodyguard.
The magic phase pumps out 9 basic power dice but with the dagger coupled with the Dagger coupled with the Power of Darkness, that should take it up to at least 12 per turn.
The Admiral can generate; 6-8 S7 Attacks in 1 turn and S4 for the rest of the game. He is also very hard to kill;
Against S3 he gets a 3+ Save and 4+ Ward.
Against S4 he gets a 4+ Save and 3+ Ward.
Against S5 he gets a 5+ Save and 2+ Ward.
Against S6 he gets a 6+ Save and a 2+ Ward.
Against S7+ he gets a 2+ Ward.
50 S3 Shots + 12 S4 Shots give me a very nice fire-base when combined with the offensive magic of Dark Elves. Harpies and Shades are my harassment units to make sure I don't get wrecked in a shoot-out. The Hydra is by shock unit and flank/rank breaker.
Not the most competative of lists but I really like the Lord and the theme. Corsairs suck really compared to everything else in the DE army but the models are just so cool!
