Well, anyone that knows my playstyle knows that I hate Tree Spirits. If I want skirmishers, I love Wardancers. If I want fear causing, I'll use VC. If I want T4 and 2 attacks, well.... why do you think I have a bigger army of Orcs than WE? People tell me that the reason I don't like them is that "I don't use them enough" so, in an upcoming tournament where I will be playing against Brettonians, VC, Tomb Kings, a pure gobbo list, and several others I don't know yet, I'm doing something totally different. Pure tree fun. Tell me what you think.
HQ 325-Treeman ancient L/R 172-Spellsinger, Glamourweave kindred on Elven Steed(Why must she be mounted? She has the same movement as a dryad...) with a wraithstone 157- Level 2 Glamourweave spellsinger on Elven Steed 165- Level 1 sorceress Branchwraith with A Murder of Spites, and a Cluster of Radiants
Special 260- 4 Tree kin 260- 4 Tree kin
Core Either (2 ways of configuring 68 Dryads) 96- 8 Dryads 96- 8 Dryads 96- 8 Dryads 96- 8 Dryads 108- 9 Dryads 108- 9 Dryads 108- 9 Dryads 108- 9 Dryads
OR
180- 15 Dryads 180- 15 Dryads 180- 15 Dryads 180- 15 Dryads 96- 8 Dryads

Tell me what you guys think.

The Spellsinger doesn't have to be mounted I dont think.
The Treemonic Legion is a very powerful force.
I have seen a fantastic set up that uses a Glamourweave Spellweaver on a Unicorn with Wand of Wych Elm and Moonstone of the Hidden Ways, joined with a unit of Treekin. He has a Ward save for defense and gives the unit some S6 attacks. You get Treekin popping up behind enemy lines or on their flanks.
You could possibly drop a unit of Dryads and put the Treeman as a Rare.
I think you could do with a unit of Wild Riders or two also, they are still Tree Spirits.
Hope it goes well for you!.

Half-time report:
Dwarves- Loss Goblins- Win Brettonians- Tie Vampire Counts-Loss Tomb Kings-Win Empire-Win
Yes, I've played 6 battles in the last 7 hours. I have another Dwarf player, Beastmen, and a mortals of chaos army to go. It seems to keep coming down to "Well, they have 2-3 ranks, outnumber me, and have a banner, so I need to kill 5-6 of them and not lose any of my own. And yeah, apparently Spellsingers do need a mount if they are glamourweave. "However they must ride an elven steed or unicorn" being the quote.... which doesn't make sense to me, but whatever. I miss my eternal gaurd... and wardancers, and glade gaurd... and waywatcher lord, and lords in general. I did add another treeman, and god these things are monsters... took down a giant and 2 bone giants with them so far.
Final report: Dwarves2: loss (Seriously, gunlines and stubborn?) Brettonians2: Win (It was pure peasents and lords/ ladies on foot... we were doing strange armies) Beastmen: Loss (Dude, all chariots, minotaurs, and Dragon Ogres...) Beastmen2: Win (almost all herds, though we did allow some marauders and chosen of chaos this time... woohoo low Ld)
Thats 10 2000 point battles... in 12 hours.
These were just for fun, using strange armies that were fluffy or just expiramentation. Should I add these to my W/D/L?
And in case anyone wants to know, I'm never using another pure tree army.

Congrats on the wins so far, how are you liking the Tree Spirits compared to your regular Elves? Im not a fan of Tree Spirits either but have just incorporated Wild Riders and Dryads into my army.

I truly am a Riftblade of Talu now... (One of the warriors of vengance) I'm sick of beasts.... they never used to beat my Elves... I don't hate the spirits, but I don't think I'll use them again. I also don't think of Wild Riders as Spirits.

I'm not a huge fan of Tree Spirits, but my girlfriend (who the Welfs are for) loves them, go figure. Basically I'll be building a Tree Spirit army for her, and an Elven army for me. I just love Welfs so much, and a Treemonic Legion just seems so weak. And in tournaments they suck now that Daemons be here. Worst mismatch evar.

Treemonic Legion was never weak, it was one of the best lists in the game. They always performed well at tournies. They have taken a step back with the release of Daemons though.
I'd still add them, you were still using a competative force in regular battles.

To be fair I just want to get as far away from Close Combat as I can right now after playing Vamp Counts. Going from Empire to Vamps made me realize that I'd taken my shooting for granted in the past, and now I just want to get it back.
Anyway, I still don't think of them as a particularly strong army. I mean, it's probably just me, but there are so many ways that the army could go wrong. I think my Vampires would have a field day with them.

Yeah all 3 of the new armies have it pretty good against them due to their ability to go really heavy on magic. Before those 3 armies were re-done though, Treemonic Legions were near the top of the food chain.

Surprisingly, magic didn't hurt me too bad... I certainly expected it to though. I killed the vamps right off though, luckily. He decided to see which was better, a vamp lord or a treeman ancient. FYI, a treeman is.... barely.

You have asked and so i am commenting. I'll cut straight to the point without much explanations. I played vs this list a lot. It's very brutal and so are all of its variations. What Tree Spirits MUST have in list? -> -> 2 Treemen as RARE only. Treemen Ancient is NOT worth it. Even with netlings. If you want a Terror causer Lord, take a Dragon+Netlings+ward+Killblow Lord. He is a lot more annoying and flys And LD10. -> 1-2 Alter Nobles by default. Can be with DoomArrows, can be terror bomb (for total of 4(!) terror causers in one army : . They'll hunt warmachines and small things like that. -> 1-2 Spellsingers (magic defense) I'd keep just 1 with scrolls. You are ItP all around and won't flee. But some take 2 lvl2s with the power stone and the staff of the first spell. So you have A LOT of that first spell(tree men have it bound) and you can play with forests. It is surprisingly very annoying and effective. -> 2 x 4(3) Treekin. These are support of Treemen. -> 3(4) x 8 Dryads. No need for more then 4. Enough to make bulk of your hard hitters. For the left over points you can take - Wardancer or Wild riders. Both ItP, both very hard hitting. Both are excellent with heroes - Heroes can be Wardancer with moonstone, or Rider on a Stag with moonstone. They are a NASTY surprise and odds are you do have 2 forests on the table at all times With your Tree anvil advancing, opponent is trapped between two units. - You can mix it up with some warhawk riders. To destroy enemy missile support faster - You can get a BSB (for your treemen). Not sure what would he be mounted on, but you can improvise. ***There is lot of things you can do with heroes mainly. Rares are taken. 2 specials are left for either 1-2 wild riders or 1-2 wardancer troupes*** Wood Elves still have one of the most brutal MSU army that does not falter one bit even to new daemons and to the good old bretonians. I won't argue about it. As I said before, people are entitled to their own opinions. I was asked to give mine and I did. ^_^ Walk Tall everyone!!!!!
