99% of the time Im not playing at my store I like quick games (cause we only have 2hrs or less to spare). So I choose to play with the following rules
750pts battle with a 5pts leway. You may not take a mage as a Hero Choice. (this includes demonic gifts, high elf honours, items, or other ways this may be achieved) You may only take 1 hero choice. britonnians do not have to take the extra Hero as a battle standard. Chaos and other expensive armies ALWAYS get the first turn.
Thats the basics of my rule system I play under

Why do expensive armies get the first turn? It seems unfair to me...

Cause for example Chao would be VERY VERY small army in this its inability to manouver and be outnumbered will lead to a great down fall, on its behalf.
It just seems far seeing I play wood elves, and chaos wouldnt really stand a chance at 750pts

Well I'd disagree. My Duellist army relies heavily on shooting, but is extremely weak in combat (it is composed mainly of Skirmishers). For this reason, it is unfair that I never get the first turn, as my army relies on outmanuvering the enemy.

Have you tried playing warhammer skirmish, i haven't though i think this might work and you could use even less models,
Though i can usually wrap a 1000pt game up in 2 hours?!

Oh yes... I should have pointed this out before:
you say small armies (like Chaos) have little manuverability, and will be at a disadvantage.
Does it not occur to you that these armies also have some of the toughest troops around, and thus don't need to maneuver?

I know. But, technically, even though there points represent the strength and toughness of the units, it does not consider the points. There immonoverability will be there downfall. there tactically inflexability minimises mistakes and such. Putting them at a disadvantage.

So you are saying that armies that can't maneuver should get the first turn? Okay... how about a shooty Dwarf army. Can't move well, so get's the first turn automatically... and wipes out half the opposition in the first volley.
Face facts, your "auto first turn" idea isn't fair.

I don't think the auto-first turn idea is balanced either
