I've been discussing with a mate lately about which we think is the best Heavy Cavalry unit in the game.
I think we've settled on Black Knights.
Fear Causing, Unbreakable, 2+ Save, Killing Blow, Great S & T.
All for about the price of a Brettonian Knight of the Realm.
Combined with the Banner of the Barrows they can be nearly unstoppable.
Cold One Knights are ok, but expensive, Stupid and have poor toughness.
Empire Knights, Sliver Helms are pretty average. Chaos Knights are really expensive. Orcs don't have a great armour save.

I don't see Blood Knights on the list - they're particularly brutal IIRC.

Yeah, this was before they were released. Blood Knights are brutal although their Frenzy is a double edged sword. They can be lured plus their points value ia s problem, they die just as easy as an Empire Knight to shooting, but cost more than double the points.

High Elven Dragon Princes hands down.
-2 attacks at s5 on the charge -Immune to fire -Reasonably cheap -Good leadership -Always Strikes First
Can't be anything other than the Nobles of Caledor

Yeah, those both come after this was made too lol.
Dragon Princes are indeed a very powerful choice. Especially with the prevalance of fire attacks to combat the regen plauge that has struck lately.

Are my eyes cheated by some spell or aren't chosen chaos knights on there!?!?
In my opinion they are easiy the best knights in the game. For around 40 pts you get something with a one plus armour save and stats the same as some heroes ;D .

In terms of Raw Power Blood Knights win.
I actually think that, and feel free to chastise me for this, Inner Circle Empire Knights may be the best value for their points. Nothing even remotely close to their points has a 1+ armour save, and they're strength 6 on the charge. Good combination of toughness and power.
Here's the problem with this poll though - you don't generally put a unit down on the table due to its raw power. Generally they're put on the table to fit a pre-defined niche that is lacking in an army in order to strengthen the army as a whole. Ie., you don't take a unit of knights because they're strong and can womp things on the charge, you take knights because you need a hammer to support your anvil, or you need a distraction, or you need a unit that can take shooting. I mean, let's face it, games are generally not won or lost by knights, save for most Brettonian armies. Knights are merely a small factor.

Yeah the poll is pretty useless really.
I actually think regular Empire Knights are fantastic, 23pts with a 1+ save and only a core choice. Thats a VERY handy hammer in an army with plenty of anvils and fire-power.
I dont think any expensive knights with frenzy are ever worth it in the long run.
Chosen are great but they die as easy at range as an empire knight for nearly double the cost.
