I thought i'd put this here as it is for all armies.
So how do you all with your various armies deal with Empire detachments? one of the most devestating things in the game.

There is of course the obvious :
Shoot them down, or at least enough to make them panic.

You could also use fear causing units to stop the detachments charging (if they fail a LD test).
You could drop a terror causing unit nearby to try and make them flee, even if only the detachment flees they will be out of position and facing the wrong way if they rally, leaving enough time for your units to engage parent units before the detachments get back into an organised position.
I also find that on the defence, two units very close will mean that the detachment has to assault the other unit front on, usually resulting in them getting beaten (as there aren't enough of them to win a front on assault).
The same goes if your advancing on the enemy.
