I'm really tempted for a Sea Patrol High Elf force for the upcoming Nemesis campaign, it's between these and Dwarfs.
It makes a little more sense than regular High Elf forces as it says in the Nemesis fluff that Chaos forces are attacking down Empire Waterways, along with Dark Elves doingthe same. The High Elves are playing a large part in stopping this kind of thing so a Sea Patrol would be ideal.
Sea Lord; 229 Points
Master of the Mists,
Reaver Bow,
Vambraces of Defense,
Hand Weapon,
Shield,
Heavy Armour.
Mage; 170 Points
The Writhing Mists,
Extra Level,
Annulian Crystal.
Mage; 175 Points
Mistress of the Deep,
Extra Level,
Ring of Corin,
Silver Wand.
Commodore; 114 Points
Ring of Fury,
Additional Hand Weapon,
Longbow.
Hero Total - 688 Points
20 Seaguard; 355 Points
Shields,
Full Command.
20 Seaguard; 355 Points
Shields,
Full Command.
10 Seaguard; 150 Points
Core Total - 860 Points
5 Sea Rangers; 75 Points
5 Sea Rangers; 75 Points
Special Total - 150 Points
3 x Repeater Bolt Thrower; 300 Points
Rare Total - 300 Points
1998 Points
At the start of the game my army would not be deployed in ranks. This would give me a Master of the Mists free round of shooting with -
61 Longbow shots,
3 S5 shots,
12 S4 shots.
Your looking at 21 Dead Basic Infantry [T3, Shields, Light Armour]. Thats before the game even begins.
Or 12 Dead Elite Infantry [T4, Heavy Armour, Shields]. Either way thats about a unit dead from the enemy army.
Then I'd have another turn or 2 of basic shooting. Then I can reform my ranks, this could either be 3 ranks of 7, so in my reform turn I would still get 7 shots from each unit [14 if on a hill], or 4 ranks of 5. So I could be getting 34 shots the turn before the enemy gets off their main charges. Then they have to compete with rank bonus and standards. 3 ranks of 7 should also ensure that all 21 models attack against most opponents as opposed to 15.
The other great thing about this army is that it's extremely cheap to buy [well, cheap for a 2000 point Fantasy army anyway], at around £135
So, any thoughts or suggestions?
