the brets are an army that is AWSOME when they charge. make sure your the one charging. and before they get too close whittle them down with magic and arrows and bolt throwers. thats all i got. hope it helps.

The advantage you get are 1. First go 2. Infantry speed 3. Specialists 4. Magic items 5. White lions, Sword masters
Firstly you have to remember magic, you will always out class theirs. Your great eagles and shadow warriors can get into warmachine killing mode. Slow em down first by getting skirmishers and eagles near their rear. Magic, best going for high to get rid of magic and make sure your artillery hits or going for heavens for the no armour save shots. Try and recieve charges to your spearmen, cause if they hold, their multiple attacks are gonna tear the brets appart. Use chariots to counter charge. Been ages since i played them, so don't know wheter their ward is against shooting only or a generic thing.

alright thanks, he'll probably think i'll go for magic heavy as usual, but this time I won't take any mages. He'll probably take 2 level one mages with 4 dispelscrolls, so magic isn't really an option here.

If you are skipping mages all together. Use the patented swordmaster prince and a few commander with some toys. Your light cav is tons better than his, so mow his down and then get behind his army slowing it down, then use a rear and forward charge to break a knight unit usually his toughest. Shooting at grail knights is worth it. Avoid his charachters they are excessively hard, rely on rank and file to hold. White lions are in their own here, stubborn with great weapons a counter charge can wipe out a cavalry unit then carry on. Bit iffy to use though but to each their own.

I think most has been covered here most of your best bets have been covered here but just to recap:
1.) Break His Chargers: Use Shadow Warriors and possibly light cav and war eagles. Shadow Warriors would be the way i'd lean, you can get a few for the points cost and they'll tend to survive a bit longer, you might give a commander the shadow armour and try to pin a unit of cav for a while.
2.) Depend upon your trusty missle Fire. Take a pair of bolt throwers and lothern seaguard and marchers. Concentrate Firepower and force your opponent to make saving throws. Go for volleys with your bolt throwers (general rule of thumb when target is T5 or less)
3.) Great Weapons, I'd still go with swordmasters and White lions, they will cut brets armour save and you can be sure they'll start paying for themselves. You can win the game with how you place and manuever these units. If you can pin a high pts cav unit in place with scouts/magic and charge with these boys all hell'l brake loose.
4.)Spears. Again lothern seaguard and just basic spearmen, fight in 3 ranks nuff said. Keep your general close and buff em with battle banner and other tools to keep em in the fight.
May the children of Ulthuan stand firm

Hire some dogs of war In this instance, a unit of pikemen, or possibly the Galloper Guns. If you have a pure elven force....I'd second everything thats said here, and add this: Take a unit of dragon princes to counter charge his cavalry.
